Tips for Choosing Hinges for Electrical Cabinets in Daily Use

In industrial settings, electrical cabinets, control cabinets, and distribution boxes are opened frequently for maintenance and routine operations. Picking the right hinges can make opening and closing doors smoother and help keep the cabinets stable over time.

Different cabinets and usage scenarios call for different types of hinges. For lighter indoor cabinets, aluminum hinges are a simple, cost-effective option. Standard indoor cabinets often use zinc alloy hinges, which are both durable and affordable.  For outdoor cabinets, high-humidity areas, or heavier doors, stainless steel hinges are a better fit because they resist corrosion and handle more weight.

Hinge type and size should match the weight and height of the cabinet door. Depending on the cabinet, you might use small electrical cabinet hinges, heavy-duty hinges, swing hinges, concealed hinges, surface-mounted hinges, pivot hinges, removable hinges, or barrel hinges. The stainless steel hinge comes in three sizes: 40×40 mm, 50×50 mm, and 60×60 mm. Choose a size based on the door's weight or use multiple hinges to distribute the weight evenly.

Installation is also something to keep in mind. Some hinges are designed for doors that open to the left or right. Others allow you to easily adjust the latch to change the opening direction. If your model has cutouts, refer to a sample or the dimension drawing first. Double-check the hole positions with us before installation.

We can also tailor surface finishes to your needs. Steel hinges usually come zinc-plated, alloy hinges can have powder coating, chrome plating, or custom colors for larger batches, and stainless steel hinges are available in brushed or mirror finishes. Some models have a single standard finish, but custom options are possible.

By looking at the material, design, and installation requirements, you can choose hinges that match your cabinet and environment. Proper hinge selection helps doors stay aligned, reduces loosening, and keeps operation smooth over time.
