How It Works

An in-line lift-off hinge is designed so that the two hinge knuckles disengage vertically — lift the door upward along the hinge axis and the knuckles separate, freeing the door completely from the frame. Lower it back down and the knuckles re-engage, holding the door in its normal operating position.

The in-line design keeps the hinge profile narrow and close to the door edge — closer than a standard surface-mounted hinge — which reduces the amount the hinge projects from the panel face. On enclosures where clearance around the cabinet is tight or where a minimal external hardware profile is preferred, that slim footprint makes a practical difference.
